Ed Sheeran's 'Divide': Album Review
The unexpected pop star plays it terribly safe in his third album, featuring 'Shape of You.'

Ed Sheeran is returning to his comfort zone of sweet balladry with the selection of “Perfect” as the third US single from 2017’s Divide. The track follows in the footsteps of “Thinking Out Loud” and is a besotted love song written for the Brit’s current girlfriend Cherry Seaborn. With an atmospheric production courtesy of Will Hicks and Benny Blanco, the track is tailored to be the soundtrack for any picture-perfect romance.

“We are still kids, but we’re so in love. Fighting against all odds, I know we’ll be alright this time,” Ed croons over strings. The storybook romance is brought to life via a series of sketches in the accompanying lyric video that dropped today (September 22). It is a cute effort that features plenty of images of the crooner dreaming of his paramour and an explosion of hearts. As things come to a close, the twosome cuddle up on the couch for a night of bliss in each other’s arms.

“Perfect” has the potential to expand Ed’s latest era through the end of the year. The hitmaker is set to perform the ballad for the first time on Monday (September 25) on Good Morning America, which implies that he is turning his attention back to his American audience. If the redheaded crooner plays his cards right, he may end up with another timeless hit under his belt. Check out the lyric video below.
