Cody Simpson Interview
Cody Simpson spoke to us about his acoustic album and future plans.

Two years have passed since Cody Simpson dropped his independently-released (and seriously underrated) Free LP. He has used the time to recalibrate his sound, form a new band and read a couple of philosophy books. “A grand visitation of creative inspiration arose when I spent my summer in Venice Beach,” the 20-year-old’s wild introduction to his new project begins. “Practicing guitar, surfing and writing poetry and songs in the streets of vibrant Southern California, I was met with an intense surge of musical and literary energy.”

“I conceived of a concept, a project, a band.” he continues. “The Tide. The Tide, acting as a sonic exemplar of flow and fluidity. The way of things. The way of nature. Guitars, rock and surf music, psychedelia, transcendence from everyday bourgeois consciousness. A project that could encourage fellow youth to strive for the state of flow I experienced that summer. A fluidity that the ocean’s tide exemplifies so flawlessly. The way of the tide. The sun and the moon. Zen spontaneity.” Well, damn. I’m sold.

Cody will be introducing The Tide with a new single shortly and showcasing his new music with a string of live dates, including two free gigs at The Peppermint Club in LA. See them all below.
