Meghan Trainor Signs On To Executive Produce ABC Show ‘Broken Record’

Meghan Trainor is gearing up to take her talents to a TV screen near you. The “Me Too” hitmaker is set to executive produce a music-driven drama that was picked up by ABC yesterday (September 27). The series is called Broken Record. It centers around The Candies, a former girl group who are brought together again nine years after they originally disbanded.

Broken Record will be created in partnership with Mark Godron Co. and Drew Comins. A pilot episode has been ordered, and it will be written by Jenni Ross. Danny Rose, Justin Sylvester, Comins and Ross will co-executive produce the project alongside the pop diva. There is no news about who will be cast to play the four members of The Candies, but it seems safe to assume that Meghan will pick some powerful women to fill the roles.

Along with executive producing, the 23-year-old will contribute some original new music to the series when it launches. Earlier this year she contributed the retro-bop “I’m A Lady” to the soundtrack for Smurfs: The Lost Village so she is no stranger to making music to set the mood. There is no news on when she will officially hit the studio to record the follow up to last year’s Thank You, but at least we know some new music is on the way.
