Miley's 'Younger Now:' Album Review
Miley Cyrus attempts a country-pop reinvention on her sixth LP with mixed results.

Miley Cyrus kicked off her week-long engagement on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with a pair of covers on Monday night (October 2). She teamed up with Adam Sandler for a duet version of Dido’s 2013 single “No Freedom” and then dusted off signature ballad “The Climb.” Two things were immediately clear. That the 25-year-old is in fine vocal form and intent on upping the country quotient of her music. That trend continues tonight with a twangy rendition of Younger Now bop “Week Without You.”

The hitmaker, who looked resplendent in a cream-colored gown with a side split, performed the break-up anthem with a full band. She strummed along on her guitar, but the focus here was her voice. Miley really injected some heart and soul into “Week Without You” — a song that feels a little undercooked on Younger Now. Hopefully, her impressive performance will generate some interest in the album. According to Hits Daily Double, it’s only on track to sell 30,000 to 40,000 copies and could miss out on a top three debut. Watch her in action up top.
