Daya Returns With A “New” Single Later This Week
Daya was one of the breakout stars of 2016 courtesy of a pair of top 30 hits (“Hide Away” and “Sit Still Look Pretty”) and a gold-selling debut LP. The 18-year-old returns with a new single on October 12 called “New.” And she’s bringing out the big guns. The rising pop star co-wrote the song with Stargate, Sir Nolan, James Newman and Leland. Daya shared a snippet of the song on social media last night and it sounds like a banger. You can’t hear any of the vocal, just a rush of synths at the end.
The talented teenager has come a long way in a very short period of time. “I remember being jus a lil baby, naive and inexperienced, trying not to drown at the time, trying to stay afloat amongst everyone else in the industry,” Daya wrote about her humble beginnings in an emotional letter to fans last year. “I had 0 clue how to perform, how to sing without hiding behind a piano, how to even be comfortable with myself. I was fresh out of my junior year of high school and had one song, hide away, the little engine that could.”
