Lana Del Rey Lands Second #1 Album
Lana Del Rey's 'Lust For Life' won a tight race for number one on the Billboard 200.

This is a little unnerving. According to Page Six, Lana Del Rey’s “Cola” was written about disgraced movie executive Harvey Weinstein. The dream-pop goddess even name-checks him in the lyrics. “I got a taste for men who are older, it’s always been so it’s no surprise,” she sings in the original version (which you can listen to below). “Harvey’s in the sky with diamonds and he’s making me crazy, all he wants to do is party with his pretty baby.” As the article points out, there’s also the line: “I know your wife but she wouldn’t mind.”

But don’t get it twisted. The song is actually intended as something of a dig. “An entertainment-industry source tells Page Six that Del Rey wrote the track after Weinstein pursued her — but ‘she rebuffed him, she had a boyfriend,’ the author explains. “But when Weinstein heard about the lyrics to the song, and his first name was included, one source said, ‘Harvey went bananas and insisted Del Rey change the lyrics, which she did, removing Harvey’s name.'” And you thought the most controversial part of the song was the iconic opening line!
