Cardi B Soars To #1
Cardi B makes history this week as 'Bodak Yellow' tops the Billboard Hot 100.

Cardi B dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live last night (October 18) to perform cultural phenomenon, “Bodak Yellow.” The rapper rocked the stage in a bright pink ensemble, delivering a high-energy rendition of the chart-topping smash. She was accompanied by a group of female dancers, who dusted off a little old-school choreography. Of course, the social media star made history in September when her debut single dethroned Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” on the Billboard Hot 100.

She became the first female rapper to land a solo number one hit since Lauryn Hill took “Doo Wop (That Thing)” to the top in 1998. There are layers to the success of “Bodak Yellow,” however. It made Cardi only the fifth rapstress to nab a number one hit after Lil Kim’s star turn on “Lady Marmalade,” Shawnna’s feature on Ludacris’ 2003 anthem “Stand Up” and Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy.” (Remy Ma also topped the charts with “Lean Back” in 2004 as part of Terror Squad). Watch her in action below.
