Miley's 'Younger Now': Album Review
Miley Cyrus attempts a country-pop reinvention on her sixth LP with mixed results.

Well, here’s something different for your Wednesday. Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan (now known as William Patrick Corgan) performed an acoustic cover of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” backstage at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. A number of artists have interpreted the power ballad, but the 50-year-old effortlessly hones in on the despair at the track’s core — wringing every ounce of emotion out it. It’s also just cool to see the baldheaded rocker tackle a song from the former Hannah Montana.

Billy was on The Tonight Show to promote his new album Ogilala, which was produced by the legendary Rick Rubin. It’s the ’90s icon’s second solo LP and his first (largely) acoustic offering. If you enjoyed his surprise cover and want to hear more stripped-back music, the “Today” hitmaker is currently touring North America. The live trek winds up with a four-night stint at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery beginning November 9. Get tickets here.
