The Drop: CYN & FLETCHER
Your guide to New Music Friday featuring gems from CYN and FLETCHER.

After bursting onto the scene with warm, organic pop anthems like “War Paint” and “Live Young Die Free,” FLETCHER takes a different approach on “You Should Talk.” The 23-year-old tries to wrap her head about an unexpected breakup over sleepy synths and minimal hip-hop beats. That sense of confusion is captured nicely in the Ryan Hutchins-directed video. The rising pop star breaks into her ex-girlfriend’s apartment (no judgment here) and then spends much of the clip going through her things — that is when she’s not chilling in the bathtub.

FLETCHER looks incredible and effortlessly evokes the temporary insanity of a breakup. “I think we’ve all been in that spot before where we’ve been literally ghosted, left with a million questions about what went wrong with a really powerful and passionate relationship,” she explains. “The song captures both the sadness and frustration within that scenario. It’s about wanting so desperately to communicate to that person it takes two to fuck something up. It’s telling yourself you weren’t the only one who was wrong.” Watch up top.
