Kelly's 'Meaning Of Life:' Album Review
Kelly Clarkson is reborn over soulful riffs on her 8th album, 'Meaning Of Life.'

There’s nothing like turn-of-the-millennium pop drama to brighten your day! Kelly Clarkson dropped by The Howard Stern Show to promote her new album, Meaning Of Life, and revealed that Avril Lavigne elbowed her in the face at the 2002 VMAs. “I got elbowed in the face by someone I was giving an award to at the VMAs,” she began, before confirming it was the “Sk8er Boi” hitmaker. “It was her,” the 35-year-old admitted. However, this grim tale of pop star violence has a happy ending.

“I will say this: Years later I saw her and she said, ‘Oh my gosh, people keep saying I elbowed you in the face and I’m so sorry!'” Kelly revealed. “I don’t know… she did it… but I don’t know if she felt bad about it, or she didn’t mean to do it, or what… but it felt purposeful!” The incident left an impression on the inaugural American Idol. “I think what I was bummed about is I’m a fan of hers,” she said. “I loved her music.” Of course, Avril penned Kelly’s smash hit “Breakaway,” so they are kind of even.
