Miley Cyrus may regret licking a hammer and swinging naked from the ceiling in her “Wrecking Ball” music video, but she cannot deny the single is a fan favorite. So it comes as no surprise that the hitmaker performed a duet of the song with Brooke Simpson on The Voice last night (December 19). In honor of the first night of the two-part season finale, each of the four remaining contestants took the stage to perform with their coaches.

Glittering in complementary silver looks, the pair delivered a faithful rendition of the soaring power ballad. Miley opted to keep the staging simple for their collaboration, which left the focus on their impressive vocals. Her voice was predictably strong, and she and Brooke found gorgeous harmonies on the track. Closing the number with one final breathtaking note, they walked offstage after an emotional hug.

“Proud. STOKED. Honored. to perform once again beside @brookesimpsonofficial,” the 25-year-old wrote in a post on Instagram. She gushed over with praise for her first contestant to make it to the finale on the show, writing a sweet note to the budding star. “Brooke, you deserve it! You ARE the voice & You remind people why this show is such an incredible tool to find ‘real deal’ talent like yourself!”

Fellow coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine also took the stage to perform with their finalists. Blake joined Chloe Kohanski for a soulful rendition of Roy Orbison’s “You Got It” and Red Marlow for Brad Paisley’s classic “I’m Gonna miss Her (The Fishin’ Song).” Adam meanwhile performed a tender version of “Falling Slowly” alongside his contestant, Addison Agen. The second part of the season finale airs tonight, and we will see who comes out on top. Until then watch the pair belt out the iconic release up top!
