The Grammys are right around the corner, and things are starting to heat up as we prepare for the biggest night in music. Set to take place in New York City’s Madison Square Garden, it will air on January 28. With James Corden returning to host and Jay-Z leading the horde of nominees, it is already shaping up to be a monumental night. Today (January 4) things got even more exciting with the announcement of the first string of performers including Lady Gaga, Pink, Little Big Town and Childish Gambino.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Mother Monster will take the stage and her sixth time performing at the Grammys overall. Last year the hitmaker teamed up with Metallica to perform a hard-hitting rendition of “Moth Into Flame,” which ended up being one of the most iconic moments of the evening. This year she will be performing a track off her latest LP, Joanne, though it is admittedly the perfect opportunity to introduce a new single. Perhaps she has a medley in the works?

Gaga is in the running for two awards during the show. She is competing against the likes of Lana Del Rey, Kesha and Ed Sheeran for the title of Best Pop Vocal Album. Meanwhile, her soaring ballad “Million Reasons” received a nomination for the Best Pop Solo Performance. There she faces off against Kelly Clarkson, Ed, Kesha and her fellow performer Pink.

This will mark Pink’s first awards show performance since she scaled Los Angeles’ JW Marriott to perform while suspended in the air at the American Music Awards. Although her Beautiful Trauma lead single, “What About Us,” is nominated for a Grammy, the hitmaker is more likely to perform the album’s title track and current single. It will be interesting to see how she tops her last set, though I have no doubt she will manage.

Little Big Town and Childish Gambino are also nominated for awards. The country collective nabbed three nods in categories including Best Country Album, Best Country Song and Country Duo/Group Performance. Childish Gambino meanwhile received five nominations and is in the running for two of the evening’s highest honors: Record of the Year and Album of the Year.

It will be interesting to see who else is selected to perform during the show, and we are sure to get more information as the official date looms ever closer. Kesha, Miley Cyrus, John Legend and a handful of other big names are scheduled to perform a tribute to Elton John during the annual Grammy Salute January 30. If we are lucky we will get a teaser of the tribute during the awards show. Until we have any other confirmation though check out the latest announcement below!
