Controversies are as common as friendships in the music industry. If you (somehow) aren’t aware, back in 2009, serious business went down at the MTV Music Video Awards. It all started when Kanye West thought that it would be a good idea to interrupt Taylor Swift’s Best Female Video acceptance speech. He rushed the stage, grabbed the mic and said: “Imma let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best music videos of all time!”

This didn’t bode well for Taylor, the music community, and pretty much the population in general. But hey, what can you expect from Kanye? Yet, the two seemed to have made amends at the 2015 VMAs. Swift took the high ground when she presented him the trophy for the Video Vanguard Award for his Life of Pablo track “Famous,” — even though there was some controversy behind Kanye using Taylor’s name in a less-than-flattering line.
