Maroon 5 & SZA's 'What Lovers Do' Video
Dinosaurs, singing squirrels and SZA star in the veteran band's latest music video.

Maroon 5 is rolling out “Wait” as the second single from Red Pill Blues (“Don’t Wanna Know” and “Cold” were relegated to bonus track status) and it’s a wise choice. After catering to the upbeat-pop crowd with “What Lovers Do,” the band’s latest is a little more introspective, but just as catchy. “You say I’m just another bad guy, you say I’ve done a lot of things I can’t undo,” Adam Levine sings on the bridge. “Before you tell me for the last time… wait, can you turn around?”

The video also represents something of a change of pace from the special effects-laden “What Lovers Do” visual. Maroon 5 keeps it very simple this time around. In fact, they filmed the entire thing on an iPhone. It’s just the band’s photogenic frontman playing around with Snapchat filters, which turns out to be compelling. “Wait” was co-written by Adam, John Ryan, J Kash and Ammar Malik. It’s already the most-added song on pop radio with two high-profile remixes (Chromeo and A Boogie wit da Hoodie) arriving in the next couple of weeks. Watch up top.
