Remy Ma And Chris Brown Get Romantic On “Melanin Magic”

Remy Ma teamed up with Chris Brown to roll out her second 7 Winters & 6 Summers single, “Melanin Magic.” After stirring up some controversy alongside Lil’ Kim on the project’s shady lead single, “Wake Me Up,” her latest offering has a bit more crossover appeal. Released today (January 19), it is a retro romance with an empowering message for women.

“I just wanted to make something to let people know that you’re beautiful, you’re pretty,” she explained in a video on Instagram. “You can be brown skin, dark skin, light skinned. None of that is what makes you pretty or beautiful. It’s what’s inside.” On the track, she drops some fiery verses that enforce her message.

“I got that melanin magic, brown skin popping. Always fly, I stay in a cockpit,” she proclaims over a production that samples Mint Condition’s “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes).” Chris’ voice is soft as velvet as he hops on the chorus. “You’re my pretty brown eyes. They all on ya, and they want ya. I know they need you in they life, but you my vibe tonight and I love you,” he sings in his upper register.

It is another promising release from the hitmaker as she gears up to unleash her sophomore LP later this year. Although the project’s barbed lead single missed the Billboard Hot 100 entirely, her latest definitely has the potential to dominate radio and storm the charts. Give it a spin below!
