The Aces Introduce Their Debut LP With The Funk-Laced “Fake Nice”
An all-girl pop/rock band from Utah, The Aces have been plugging the gap left by The Go-Gos and The Bangles since arriving on the scene with “Stuck” in 2016. Since then, they have rapidly built a following with a string of brilliant throwback singles including “Physical” (my favorite), “Baby Who” and “Touch.” Those tracks are all contained on I Don’t Like Being Honest — one of the best EPs of 2017. Cristal, Katie, McKenna and Alisa now return with “Fake Nice,” the first taste of their debut LP, When My Heart Felt Volcanic (due April 6).
“Fake Nice is a favorite off the album and representative of a funkier side of our sound,” the band says of the slinky, relatable anthem about the human vampires that populate major metropoles. “We wrote it about being from a smaller town and experiencing living in a big city for the first time while trying to navigate all the new personalities that come along with that.” Listen below.
