Iggy Teams Up With Quavo For 'Savior'
Iggy Azalea returns with Quavo-assisted single 'Savior' from her second LP.

Iggy Azalea sat down with Elvis Duran to discuss “Savior,” her new single with Quavo, and the criticism that still plagues her. While explaining how the song evolved between 2016 (when she started writing it) and now, the Aussie rapper revealed that she contemplated quitting the music business. “I started writing it when I moved into my new house, after my break-up and I was kind of weirdly in-between management and a bunch of stuff was kind of up in the air, where I thought to myself what am I doing?”

“I had my production company with NBC and I was really at a crossroads, where I thought am I going to keep making music? Do I even like this? I love music, but I am getting so much hate. Is this able to be enjoyable for me with everything that is going on? I was questioning if I felt like it was something that could make me happy doing because there was so much negativity,” she continued. “I never questioned if I loved making music, but I thought am I able to emotionally as person endure this much criticism and negativity everyday?”

“There was a part of me that wanted to give up, I just want to sit on the couch and I want watch television and I want to eat pizza all day for like six months.” However, the 27-year-old bounced back and tweaked the lyrics to reflect her journey. “I rewrote a lot of parts of it because I was in a much different place and I felt like I was happy and I did have my routine again… whether it’s God or a higher power or you finding a hobby or a new routine or a new outlook or whatever it is that helps you get to that place, that to me is what the savior is in the song, not necessarily a person.”
