A cappella supergroup Pentatonix kicks off the weekend with a steamy cover of Camila Cabello’s chart-topping single “Havana.” The hitmakers rolled out their latest release today (February 23). On it, Scott Hoying takes the lead and shares the main vocal line with Kirstin Maldonado and Mitch Grassi. The groups new bass, Matt Sallee, also delivers a strong performance, but beatboxer extraordinaire Kevin Olusola steals the show with an impressive “trumpet” solo. The group also rolled out a jewel-toned video that shows off their chic style and shows them in action.

Their rendition of “Havana” is bold and imaginative. It manages to capture the heat of Camila’s original interpretation while putting the group’s own unique spin on it. Each of their releases always have their own signature, and it looks like they have more in the works for the remainder of the year. “Make sure to keep an eye out for a few more surprises coming #soon,” they promised in the comments on their new video.

Hopefully they have something big on the way. Although the group has unveiled a slew of holiday music and some impressive covers recently, it has been a while since they released an original song. Their 2015 album, Pentatonix, included hits such as “Can’t Sleep Love,” and it will be nice to hear what the group sounds like on original material in 2018. In 2017, Maldonado, Hoying and Grassi kept fans sated with some fun side projects, but it is always nice to see the group in action together. While we wait for confirmation on what is to come, check out their latest reimagining up top!
