“Échame La Culpa” is the gift that keeps giving. Demi Lovato and Luis Fonsi first released their highly anticipated Spanish-lanugage bop last November. Since then, it has stormed the Billboard Hot 100, and its video racked up more than 970 million views on YouTube. Today (March 2), the pair rolled out a remix of the track that will likely extend its reign. Titled “Not On You,” they have released an English-language version. And the move adds a new level of dimension to the international smash.

In the new version, the hitmakers attempt to walk away from a relationship. However, before they can break up, they both want to accept blame for ending things. “You tell me that you love me. You tell me that you need me. You knew it from the start, you’re not my only one. Still you wouldn’t leave me,” Luis croons over strings on the opening lines. The beat picks up as Demi comes in for her first line, rapidly building to the frenetic island sound that made the original a steamy hit. “Okay, I don’t really, really wanna fight anymore. I don’t really, really want to fake it no more. Play me like The Beatles, baby, just let it be,” she belts.

The magic truly comes though when the duo sing together and duke it out over who is at fault. “Oh, no need to say you’re sorry. You know you gotta leave me. But know you gotta know that nothing good will come if you’re with me,” they battle on the chorus. It is interesting to hear the translated version, and it seems likely that “Not On You” will enjoy its own run on the charts. As we move into the summer, it just may become a “Despacito”-sized hit. Luis has already made history with his run on the charts with “Despacito” and “Échame La Culpa” so it will be worth seeing how far they take their newest outing. Give the track a spin below!
