Maluma On His Next Album & Cracking America
We speak to Maluma about his next, bilingual album and cracking America.

Maluma dropped by Beats 1 to talk to Ebro Darden about his new single, “El Préstamo,” and upcoming F.A.M.E. LP. “The release is gonna be in May,” the Colombian superstar said of the album. “I don’t know exactly a date but we know that it’s gonna be in May. I’ve been working on the album forever, like three months.” What does the acronym stand for? “It means Faith Soul Music and Essence.” It also looks like the album will mostly be in Spanish with perhaps one exception.

“It’s very Latin, I also have different kind of rhythms,” he reveals. “I had the pleasure to work with J Kash, Vinylz. We have another surprise with Jason Derulo. Jason and I we’re gonna do the Coca Cola song for the World Cup, so that’s the first time that we’re gonna share both with a song and then I’m going to have him on my album with another song. The World Cup song going to be English and Spanish and the song that I’m going to have in my album will be English and Spanish too.”

The conversation then turned to his collaborations with Shakira. “I was in the middle of my tour, I don’t even remember when was that, and I received a whatsapp text: ‘It’s Shakira over here.’ I was in the middle of the tour and I was like, ‘No, you’re kidding me.’ And she’s like, ‘Oh can I call you? For real, I just want to have you on my new single,’ and that was crazy, then I went to Barcelona. We made ‘Chantaje’ that time and next day we did another song that was ‘Trap’ that we just released like a month ago, two months ago.” Watch the full interview below.
