Shawn Mendes stopped by The Late Late Show With James Corden to perform his new single “In My Blood,” and to announce a week-long residency on the show. Last night (March 28), the 19-year-old delivered the premiere performance of the Kings of Leon-inspired anthem. Unsurprisingly, it was a spectacle complete with exemplary vocals and a flickering light show.

Taking the stage with a live band, his backdrop projected the single’s floral-inspired cover as he played along on his guitar. The high-profile appearance is sure to give the single a push up the charts. This week it debuted at number 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 with only one day of sales. Clearly, it is set to soar even higher.

While on the show, Shawn participated in a segment called Flinch with Hillary Swank and Zach Woods. The game tested the players’ nerves as they had to resist the urge to flinch while fruit was flung at them. Host James Corden also decided that one day with the hitmaker was not enough. During another cute segment, he realized that the “Lost In Japan” singer had left his toothbrush on set. This led to a discussion about him coming back for a week of appearances on the show, starting June 4.

The duo promised to fill the week-long residency with a slew of memorable performances and laugh-out-loud segments, and they also alluded to the possibility of a Carpool Karaoke. By June, we should have more news about Shawn’s forthcoming album, and this sounds like the perfect promotional opportunity. Check out his latest performance up top and his other segments below!
