Luke Steele & Daniel Johns Make DREAMS Happen: Watch “No One Defeats Us”
DREAMS is an Aussie super-group. Comprised of Luke Steele (Empire Of The Sun) and Daniel Johns (Silverchair), the duo launched a couple of weeks ago with a booming electro-anthem called “No One Defeats Us.” It falls somewhere in the middle of their signature sounds — dreamy dance and gutsy rock — and is more of a mantra that expresses their shared ideals than a debut single. “[The track] says lyrically what our goal is, it’s a journey into our vision of the future,” Daniel explains.
“Dan and I excel and struggle on similar levels,” Luke elaborates. “We have so much passion and we are so ambitious. That song came from a time when we were beginning the band and we needed something deep. I wanted to build a gang — like a gang of the future. We want the band to be for the common man, the underdog, the homeless, the person who shows love to his neighbour.” The video for “No One Defeats Us” arrives today (April 2) and it finds the pair strolling through Los Angeles with seriously sharp outfits and a baseball bat.
