Last night (April 10) Normani Kordei and Khalid stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to deliver the debut TV performance of their slinky duet “Love Lies.” The Love, Simon soundtrack contribution found the duo a spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and their appearance is sure to give the single a boost on the charts. Delivering spot-on vocals and some sensual choreography, they lit up the late-night stage with a truly memorable performance.

Transforming the set into a modern hotel room complete with Lucite furniture and glowing neon lights, Khalid opened the performance. Dressed in all black, he showed off his soulful vocals before welcoming his collaborator onto the stage. Rocking a sleek white blazer and black heels, she recreated some of the choreography from their sexy video and found effortless harmonies over the live band’s performance. The stage went dark as the track faded out, and the duo went in for a joyful embrace.

Normani and Khalid truly brought the heat for their debut television performance of the single. With any luck they will have a couple more appearances planned in the next few weeks. With the right promotional push, “Love Lies” could easily soar into the top 20 on the Hot 100. That would be quite the solo debut for the Fifth Harmony member. After announcing the group’s plans to embark on an indefinite hiatus, she became the first artist to sign to Keep Cool/RCA Records. At the rate things are going, we can probably expect to hear new music soon. While we wait, give the performance a view up top!
