Another day, another drama. Nicki Minaj opened up about her alleged beef with Cardi B in an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1. The femcees have been rumored to be at war at various points since the “Bodak Yellow” rapper made chart history by nabbing the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Things reached a fever pitch after they hopped on Migos’ “MotorSport” together last winter. After the song dropped, the up-and-coming artist gave a less than flattering review of working with Nicki (apparently, her verse was not finished when Cardi recorded hers), which only fed the rumors.

Before premiering “Barbie Tingz” and “Chun-Li” yesterday (April 12), the 35-year-old opened up about how she felt ambushed by Cardi and Migos after the single dropped. Seeming genuinely hurt but the situation, Nicki offered some praise for the breakout rapper. However, she admitted to being offended by Cardi’s interview. “I remember when I first came in the game if a female of that stature had done a feature with me on it, I would only be singing their praises and saying thank you,” she said. She went on to explain that Quavo failed to back her up on Twitter after the fall out, and she felt that it was to feed into the brewing drama.

“It hurt my feelings to know that people would watch me be slaughtered. And not one person will step in to say the truth,” she said, claiming that it was because it was entertaining to make her seem like the “bad guy.” Things reached a fever pitch after there were scheduling conflicts while shooting the music video, further adding to the drama.

Nicki hopped on Twitter after the interview aired to drop some further clarification about the situation. “How can you say someone changed their verse & forget to say Quavo TOLD me to remove my singing part (which I loved) & Atlantic told me to remove your name from my verse per your request,” she asked. “So how were those changes gonna happen if I didn’t “change” my verse?” Cardi has yet to reply to the situation, but this could very well be the beginning of a tenuous relationship between the pair.

Although rap feuds are becoming more common by the day, it is worth noting that both Nicki and Cardi are doing very well professionally. At the time of publication, the “No Frauds” rapper has the top two spots on US iTunes with her new tracks. Meanwhile, the “Be Careful” hitmaker broke streaming records with her Invasion of Privacy LP and is expected to make a strong debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart next week.
