Banger Alert: Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left To Cry” Will Be Massive
The day has finally arrived! After weeks of anticipation, Ariana Grande is officially kickstarting a new era with the release of her single “No Tears Left To Cry.” The track touches down today (April 20) and is likely to dominate the charts through the summer. Boasting an empowering message about overcoming heartbreak, the pop princess hits all the right notes. Opening with an aural production and her heavenly vocals, it rapidly transforms into a vibey dance floor filler. “Right now I’m in a state of mind I wanna be in like all the time. Ain’t got no tears left to cry,” she coos before the beat picks up.
Things build as she moves into the chorus and leaves her pain in the past. “I’m pickin’ it up (yeah), I’m pickin’ it up (yeah). Lovin’, I’m livin’, so we turnin’ up.” The Dave Meyers-directed video has arrived as well. In it, the “Side to Side” diva serves serious looks and defies gravity as the camera sweeps through a city. With her platinum hair in a long braid, the 24-year-old is stunning in a green gown as she reclines on the ceiling in a breathtaking manor. Later she and a group of dancers serve up some choreography on the side of an austere skyscraper, and Ari executes some gymnastic feats on a fire escape. As things come to a close, the sun rises on a new day for the icon.
“No Tears Left To Cry” is a welcome return for the Dangerous Woman siren. Considering its feel-good message and frenetic beat, it is sure to rack up some serious streams and dominate radio. And with any luck it will find love on the charts. Her last era spawned two top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and her latest sounds like it could easily join the ranks.
