This is shaping up to be a blockbuster week for new music. Florence + The Machine returns with “Hunger,” while Diplo calls on Sia and Labrinth for “LSD.” Oh, and there’s a high probability that Ariana Grande will drop “R.E.M.” — and let’s not even start with those Christina Aguilera rumors. Joining that explosive mix is Julia Michaels. The writer of all your favorite songs is back with a new track called “Jump” (due May 4). She has been teasing it on social media for the last few days, but finally released a longer snippet of the song. And it sounds utterly addictive.

“‘Cause now you’re moving in on my skin, I move back with my lips,” Julia coos over a minimal electro-production. “It goes against my better judgment, ’cause I (’cause I) want it.” As usual, the 24-year-old is singing about matters of the heart — which is the sweet spot for her insightful, relatable songwriting. “Jump” is the rising star’s first single since “Heaven” from the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack. She has also recorded collaborations with Maroon 5, Keith Urban, Noah Kahan and Shawn Mendes.
