Fashion Forward: Madonna’s Met Gala Looks Over The Years
The 2018 Met Gala promises to be a religious experience. Quite literally. After all, the theme is “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” — something Madonna has been exploring since making out with Jesus while wearing a slip in 1989’s “Like A Prayer” video. While we wait for her to arrive tonight (May 7), I’ve put together a gallery of her iconic Met Gala looks starting with an ’80s throwback in 2009 and culminating last year in a camouflage-print dress.
While her outfits have usually drawn a mixed response (she was, however, voted one of the best dressed for 2011’s stunning ensemble), there’s no denying that the Queen of Pop always makes an impression, whether she’s doing a little album promo by wearing a cape emblazoned with Rebel Heart or exposing her buttocks through a see-through dress.
