Tonight (May 7), celebrities swarmed to New York City to attend the 2018 Met Gala. The annual event takes place at the city’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, Costume Institute and is easily one of the most fashionable evenings of the year. This year’s theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, and it inspired some truly iconic looks. We have already compiled a gallery of red carpet appearances from the likes of Ariana Grande and Katy Perry to the predictably stunning Rihanna. Pairing her gold dress with a massive pair of feathered wings, the Witness siren undoubtedly had one of the evening’s best looks. And she put it to good use by staging some epic photos with famous friends. Inside the venue she and Rihanna posed for a photo together, and she linked up with Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian. The Kardashian-Jenner clan were in high demand, as a very tan Selena Gomez posed alongside Kylie Jenner.
One of the most surprising moments came as photos emerged of Nicki Minaj and Cardi B chatting inside the venue. The pair have famously been pitted against one another in a budding beef for months now. However, they seem to have swept the drama under the rug. Perhaps they are planning a duet for Nicki’s forthcoming album, Queen? The rap icon announced a June 15 release date for the LP while on the red carpet tonight. The evening was a high point for the “Bodak Yellow” femcee as well as she celebrated her first ever appearance at the gala with a stunning look.
Meanwhile Shawn Mendes nabbed headlines when he showed up alongside his rumored girlfriend, Hailey Baldwin. The pair posed together on the red carpet and fed into rumors of their budding romance. Meanwhile, the “In My Blood” crooner also snapped a picture with Ariana Grande and Troye Sivan. Is it possible the trio are cooking up a massive hit in the studio for one of their forthcoming albums? We already know Ari and Troye have a song called “Dance To This” in the works, and another would certainly be welcome.
Love was in certainly in the air at the event as evidenced by 2 Chainz’s proposal to his longtime partner, Nakesha Ward. Other notable moments include Nicki reuniting with Madonna and Jaden Smith toting along a plaque for his single “Icon” as an accessory.
