Meghan's 'No Excuses' Is A Sassy Bop
Meghan Trainor's new single, 'No Excuses,' is a typically sassy earworm.

Meghan Trainor is the queen of the dance floor on her new pop bops, “Can’t Dance” and “Let You Be Right.” The 24-year-old rolled out another taste of her forthcoming third LP today (May 10), and both tracks could dominate the charts in the coming months. With its sexy production and bold lyrics, “Can’t Dance” feels like an obvious follow-up to lead single “No Excuses.” On it, M-Train is at her most flirtatious as she asks a “shy boy” to join her on the dance floor. “Even if you can’t dance just hold my hips. Hold my hips while I roll my hips. Even if you can’t dance, I’ll handle it. Follow me and don’t stop,” she coos over a driving beat. The feisty anthem is a sing-along delight that will be stuck in your head after one listen.

Boasting another sugary production, “Let You Be Right” offers up a serving of throwback perfection. The disco-tinged mid-tempo sees Meghan trying to reach a compromise with a feuding lover. “I don’t wanna fight tonight, I’ma let you be right. We can make up if you kiss me at the next traffic light,” she announces on the breezy chorus. It is easy to imagine this finding a place on radio through the summer months. With “No Excuses” still sitting comfortably within the top 20 on the US iTunes, the “All About That Bass” siren is hitting on a sweet spot as she moves into her new era. She has two worthy follow-ups on her hands, and with the right push either could easily soar into the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
