New Find: Jesse Saint John's 'Move'
Pop and queercore collide on Jesse's instantly catchy debut single 'Move.'

After penning songs for the likes of Britney Spears (Glory highlight “Love Me Down”) and LAUV (streaming hit “Easy Love”), Jesse Saint John finally launched his artist project in February. And immediately made an impression with “Move,” a rollicking synth-pop/rock moment that evokes Le Tigre, Electric Six and other Y2K faves. He now switches gears with “FAKE IT.” Produced by Bleu, the singer/songwriter’s latest is a mid-tempo rumination on the superficiality of modern life set to a lo-fi, synth-y soundtrack.

“Ever make you feel like a fraud, living just so people see it,” Jesse muses in a verse. “Wish that I was pretty enough to not think hard.” The song really comes alive, however, in the chorus. “With the car window up, going through the motion of emotion,” he wails over cascading synths. “Fake it until we feel it.” Think Charli XCX meets Now, Now. “Sonically I’m super inspired by fusing pop and bloghaus,” Jesse says of his latest bop. “It’s important to keep dancing while asking the tough universal questions.”

No doubt, Jesse will perform “FAKE IT” at LA Pride on June 9, where he will share the stage with Icona Pop, Kim Petras, Superfruit and Kehlani. As well as dropping new music of his own, the out artist is also flexing his songwriting muscle with new songs on the way for Brooke Candy, Charlotte Lawrence and Big Freedia.
