Nick Jonas & Mustard Are Lovesick In Their “Anywhere” Video
Nick Jonas and DJ Mustard chronicle the highs and lows of a relationship in the video for their collaborative single “Anywhere.” The duo teamed up on the track, which dropped earlier this month. A pensive mid-tempo, it features a lovelorn performance from the 25-year-old. “You could be anywhere right now. It ain’t hard to see. I’ll be your light, if you say the words for me,” he promises a loved one on the chorus. Released today (May 22), the accompanying visual brings the lyrics to life by telling the story of a pair of lovers. Capturing both their joy and heartache, it ultimately ends with them going their separate ways. Separate from the action, the collaborators appear throughout and perform in front of a large screen.
“Anywhere” could shape up to be a hit as the pair begin to promote the release in earnest. The track has already amassed more than 1.5 million streams on Spotify, and will benefit from the video and some promotional appearances. Last night they delivered the debut TV performance of the single on the season finale of American Idol. Pulling inspiration from the visual, they performed in front of a series of screens broadcasting expansive natural settings and abstract imagery. Nick’s silky vocals were on perfect display, and the dazzling staging made for a must-see moment. The crooner also invited contestant Jurnee onstage with him to cap off the appearance with a duet version of his breakout single “Jealous.” Finding an easy chemistry onstage, it was another bold moment.
