Kylie Minogue Celebrates Her 50th Birthday With “Golden” Video
Believe it or not, Kylie Minogue celebrates her 50th birthday today (May 28). And to mark the milestone, she has surprised fans by dropping the video for “Golden” — the title track of her country-pop opus. Co-written with Grammy-winning songwriter Liz Rose (“Girl Crush”) and Lindsay Rimes, the spaghetti western-evoking bop sums up the diva’s wise approach to aging. “We’re not young, and we’re not old,” the eternally-youthful queen sings on the bridge. “We’re the stories not yet told… we are golden.”
The video, which was directed by Colin Solal Cardo, is an excuse for Kylie to wear a variety of glamorous gowns and twirl around in the ocean. It’s very pretty, but looks like a behind-the-scenes reel of a fashion shoot. Golden is shaping up to be a landmark era for the “Into The Blue” singer. Her genre-switch has been well-received by fans and she is still landing hits in her key markets. “Dancing,” in particular, proved to have unusual staying power.
