Lost Hit: Lady Gaga's 'Gypsy'
Lady Gaga missed out on a surefire hit with her anthemic 'Artpop' cut 'Gypsy.'

A reboot of movie musical A Star Is Born has been in development since at least 2011 when Beyonce was attached to star with Clint Eastwood directing. The film went through several script changes before Lady Gaga signed on for the classic role of a dive bar diva who hits the big time after falling in love with a rock star. The film, which was directed by and co-stars Bradley Cooper, finally has a release date (October 3) and a very promising trailer. I didn’t know what to expect from this but Mother Monster already has my $15.

Excitingly, A Star Is Born will contain several new songs. Gaga, who already has an Oscar nomination for haunting ballad “Till It Happens To You” from The Hunting Ground, co-wrote the tracks with actor/director Cooper as well as songwriters including Lukas Nelson, Jason Isbell and Mark Ronson. According to the press release, everything was recorded live — so expect a warm, organic vibe. Will the “Million Reasons” singer be in the awards race this year? Watch the trailer above and let us know what you think.
