Katy Perry's 'Witness': Album Review
Katy Perry boldly explores club sub-genres on her banger-heavy new album.

Say what you want about Katy Perry’s Witness, but it contains more bops than your average album. And the tracklist just grew with the arrival of the deluxe (or Target) edition on streaming services. That means you can finally play bonus tracks “Dance With The Devil” and “Act My Age” on Spotify and Apple Music. Let’s start with the former. Produced by the always-amazing Felix Snow, this mercurial electronic anthem is alt-leaning and atmospheric. If you like “Mind Maze” and “Déjà Vu,” this will probably float your boat.

“Act My Age,” on the other hand, is pure-pop. You might remember that Katy performed the song on a Japanese TV show (the one where she binged and regurgitated chicken nuggets live on air) after the perky tune became popular in the country after featuring in a commercial for fabric softener. It’s hard to explain why this didn’t make the standard tracklist, but I guess it was a little too straightforward — and something of a throwback to Prism. Revisit Witness, in full, below.
