Shawn Mendes Unveils His Handsy “Nervous” Video

Shawn Mendes is having a very good year. The 19-year-old is sitting just outside the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his stadium rock-infused “In My Blood” and topped the Billboard 200 with his self-titled LP last week. His Khalid-assisted resilience anthem “Youth” is racking up serious streams on Spotify and shows signs of becoming another respectable hit. And after a week-long residency on The Late Late Show With James Corden where he performed some of the highlights on the tracklist, he is likely to spend another week near the top of the charts. Today (June 11), the crooner is turning his attention to another highlight on the album: “Nervous.” With a writing credit from Julia Michaels, the besotted bop was released as a buzz track ahead of the album’s release last month. Now it looks like its will be an official single, and it has received a suitably adorable video.

“I get a little bit nervous around you. Get a little bit stressed out when I think about you. Get a little excited, Baby, when I think about you,” he proclaims over an electrifying production on the chorus. Shawn keeps things pretty simple in the video. In it, he performs the track while being teased by a pair of hands. As he strums along on the guitar they wrap around his chest and prove to be a little distracting. It is a clear reference to how debilitating love can be, though the hitmaker doesn’t seem to mind. Although the release is not quite as striking as his cinematic “In My Blood” visual, it should give the track a promotional boost. As it stands, it has already been streamed nearly 24 million times on Spotify. If things keep up, he should have another track on the Hot 100 in no time. Check out his newest release up top and revisit “In My Blood” below!
