Charli XCX’s “5 In The Morning” Video Is A Slick Fashion Show
After pumping the breaks to focus on a trio of features (Rita Ora’s “Girls,” Tove Lo’s “Bitches” and Lil Xan’s “Moonlight”), Charli XCX returns her attention to “5 In The Morning” — the latest cut from her third LP. Possibly. Produced by The Invisible Men, the murky trap anthem shows a bold, new side of the Brit and that is also reflected in the video. The 25-year-old throws a warehouse party for one and spends the clip serving sexy looks in the industrial setting. It’s slick and stylish and suits the music.
“I am going to release a lot music this year and a lot of videos,” Charli promised via social media. “You’re gonna be so fucking sick of me.” Something tells me that’s not possible. It will be interesting to see if there’s a larger body of work on the way, or if she will just continue to release stand-alone singles and mixtapes. Given that albums are basically extinct at this point, it’s not a terrible idea. Particularly for someone as prolific as her. Watch the “After The Afterparty” hitmaker do her thing up top.
