Twenty One Pilots Tease New Music
The rap/rock duo is about to unleash the followup to breakout LP, 'Blurryface.'

Where there’s smoke (or a teaser video), there’s fire. Alt-rock duo Twenty One Pilots return today (July 11) with two new songs, “Jumpsuit” and “Nico And The Niners.” The former is the lead single of the band’s upcoming 5th LP, which is called Trench and drops on October 5. Just don’t expect another pop-adjacent offering like “Stressed Out” or “Ride.” This finds the band at their most obtuse, singing about a magical jumpsuit and a mythological city, over a sprawling production that undulates between semi-acoustic and hard rock.

The video goes a long way to explaining (or giving context to) the metaphor in the song, which seems to be about lead singer Tyler Joseph’s battle with depression. The clip is all kinds of epic, playing like an emo reboot of Lord Of The Rings. As expected, given the massive success of Blurryface, the song is making huge strides on iTunes (it’s currently sitting at number two) and the video is already racking up big numbers.
