Katy Perry found time in the midst of her Witness World Tour to pose for a photoshoot with Vogue Australia. Later this month, the “Hey Hey Hey” diva will conclude the tour with a string of shows in Australia and New Zealand. The 33-year-old plays her first set in Perth on July 24, which perfectly aligns with her latest shoot. On the cover of the publication, her platinum pixie cut is on full display. Posing in a jewel-toned dress, she serves a serious look. However, inside the magazine, she mixes things up with a series of wigs. She tosses on a blonde bob and poses in a luxurious, fur jacket and lingerie in one photo. In another she returns to her roots with a black-hued wig and floral gown. The stripped-back set highlights her various outfits and makes for a truly striking collection.

In the accompanying feature, Katy spoke with her good friend Derek Blasberg. Hitting on a variety of topics, she got particularly candid about the public’s lukewarm reception to last year’s Witness. She admitted to suffering from “bouts of situational depression” after the release. However, she said that she has learned from the process. “Music is my first love and I think it was the universe saying: ‘Okay, you speak all of this language about self-love and authenticity, but we are going to put you through another test and take away any kind of validating blankie. Then we’ll see how much you do truly love yourself,” she said. And she has risen to the challenge by reconnecting with her faith and recalibrating her perception on things. “It gave me a new foundation. It’s not just a material foundation: it’s a soul foundation.”

She attributes a big part of her spiritual foundation to a recent meeting with Pope Francis. “I’m such a big fan of Pope Francis. It’s a combination of compassion, humility, sternness and refusal. He is rebel – a rebel for Jesus,” she gushed. Back in April, she met the Pope with her mother and longtime boyfriend, Orlando Bloom. Although the pair have been involved in an on-and-off relationship since 2016, Katy admitted that she likes to keep things a little more private for a variety of reasons. “Of course, I love my relationship, but that is one part of me, and I don’t want any part of what I do to be diminished,” she explained. However, she did add that things were going well with the pair.

The hitmaker shared some insight about the creative process behind planning a tour. In particular, she opened up about what goes into making it possible for her to fly above the audience on a cotton-candy cloud as she has in the past. She also reflected on the fatigue of spending months on the road. By the end of her latest tour, she will have performed the set nearly 120 times for fans across the globe. “I am depleted. I am a plastic bag, to quote my own song, at the end of every tour,” she joked. Scroll through a gallery of looks from the shoot up top and read the feature in full here!
