The Aussie pop star kicks off his sophomore era with a bop and racy video.

Troye Sivan and Ariana Grande put on a show in the video for their joint single, “Dance To This.” The pair have a serious hit on their hands with the sensual slow-burner. Inspired by Janet Jackson’s massively underrated “All Nite (Don’t Stop),” it dropped to rave reviews and emerged as a highlight in both of their jam-packed summers. In the last month it has amassed more than 25 million streams on Spotify. And they may be able to take things to the next level with the Bardia Zeinali-directed visual. Considering that it was inspired by “High School Musical and Grease and Pass This On by the Knife and a gif of Cher spinning around,” it is hardly surprising that the project is a campy delight.

In it, they engage in a divalicious dance off. Entering what appears to be a banquet hall with a CD in hand, Troye takes the stage to perform for a distracted audience. That doesn’t stop him from serving some feisty dance moves in a lilac suit. Things get more interesting as Ari enters from the back of the room. The “God Is A Woman” siren grabs a microphone to join in on the fun. After their audience leaves, the lights go out so that the pair can continue their performance. Dancing on a table under the flickering lights, it is a euphoric moment. However, an unexpected twist at the end reveals that it all may have been a fantasy.

Compared to the bombastic visual we received for “My My My!” and the glamorous one Troye rolled out for “Bloom,” this is a slightly more restrained affair. But it is definitely cute and could become a viral smash. I’m holding out hope that it will give the single enough of a boost so that it premieres on the Billboard Hot 100. All things considered, this could easily become the “Wild” crooner’s first single to crack the Top 40 on the chart since 2015’s “Youth.” It would be nice to see him enter the final weeks before Bloom’s release with a chart-dominating smash on his hands.

That’s not all Troye has been up to this week. The hitmaker announced that he has a song called “Revelation” on the soundtrack for the forthcoming movie, Boy Erased. He also stopped by Spotify to partake in their Spotify Singles series. There he performed a stripped-back version of his anthemic “Bloom.” Highlighting his sensual vocal line, it is another strong showing. However, his take on Post Malone’s “Better Now” is nabbing the headlines. It is customary for artists to perform a single and a cover during the series, but the crooner’s choice of material was unexpected to say the least. Although it was a surprise, the risk definitely paid off. Performing over a lush instrumental, he breathes new life into the Top 10 smash.
