The Chainsmokers are rolling out a new single called “Side Effects” on Friday (July 27). The track features singer/songwriter Emily Warren and is expected to be the first taste of their sophomore LP. As such, expectations are going to be very high. After all, Memories…Do Not Open topped the Billboard 200 and produced the hit singles “Paris” and “Something Just Like This.” The former actually used the uncredited vocals of Emily, so it’s nice that she gets a starring role on their latest track.

Not that the controversy-plagued duo has rested on their laurels between albums. They followed up Memories…Do Not Open with an EP called Sick Boy. The decidedly emo tunes contained therein failed to connect on pop radio, but that was beside the point. The Chainsmokers were trying to show their range by mixing up their winning formula with new sounds and self-recorded vocals. It was a little hit or miss, but kudos for trying. See the cover and announcement details of “Side Effects” below.
