The Brit goes in on posers and naysayers on her new single, '5 In The Morning.'

One year ago Charli XCX was busy daydreaming about boys on her infectious earworm, “Boys.” The star-studded video was a highlight of 2017, but today (July 27) she is all about hanging out with her girls. If you need any evidence, just give her club-ready banger, “Girls Night Out,” a listen. The 25-year-old announced her latest single earlier this week, and it follows the trend of recent electro-driven buzz tracks that she has dropped. Boasting a production from SOPHIE and Stargate, it is a seriously catchy anthem about hitting the town for a night of carefree revelries. Opening to the wail of a police siren, the track only gets bigger as it develops. “Goin’ out on the weekend. Gettin’ dressed with my girls. Put on my favorite lip gloss, Cherry Garcia swirl. Perfume, pleasure and platforms. Livin’ that kind of world,” she chants over bouncy beats.

“I can’t wait to live it up tonight,” she adds on the sing-along chorus. The end result is a carefree bop that is bound to soundtrack plenty of weekends in the months to come. It is also more evidence that the hitmaker is keeping true to her promise of filling 2018 with new content. “I am going to release a lot music this year. and a lot of videos. you’re gonna be so fucking sick of me,” she vowed on Twitter. We’ve already heard a handful of collaborations with the likes of Rita Ora, Bebe Rexha and Cardi B on “Girls” and Tove Lo, ALMA, Icona Pop and Elliphant on “Bitches.” She’s also treated fans to a trio of buzz tracks, “5 In The Morning,” “Focus” and “No Angel.” Of the group, “No Angel” is my favorite thus far. However, “Girls Night Out” is the kind of irresistible release that could eclipse them all. Give it a spin below!
