Say A Little Prayer For Aretha Franklin: Queen Of Soul ‘Gravely Ill’
Say a little prayer, or perhaps a big one, for the Queen of Soul. According to reports, Aretha Franklin is gravely ill. “Prepare yourself, she’s dying,” a source told TMZ. The 76-year-old, who last performed at the Elton John AIDS Foundation in November, 2017, is allegedly down to 86 pounds and surrounded by friends and family at a hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2010 and has been battling the disease, on and off, ever since.
The gravity of Aretha’s ill health has been confirmed by several other news outlets. “I am so saddened to report that the Queen of Soul… is gravely ill,” Evrod Cassimy, a reporter for Detroit new outlet Local 4, shared on Twitter. “I spoke with her family members this morning. She is asking for your prayers at this time.” There has been an outpouring of love and prayers for the R&B legend on social media with artists like Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott and Ciara tweeting support (below). This story is developing.
