2018 VMAs: See The Full List Of Winners
Tonight is the night of the 2018 VMAs, and it is shaping up to be a star-studded evening. The event is taking place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and boasts an impressive list of stars in attendance. With anticipated performances from the likes of Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Nicki Minaj and Maluma, it is sure to be a memorable night for live music. Madonna, Bebe Rexha, DJ Khaled, Liam Payne and Rita Ora will also take the stage to present awards. Looking for some drama? Don’t worry. The Queen rapper is likely to throw a bit of shade.
After finding out that her album debuted at the number two spot (behind Travis Scott’s Astroworld), she fired up Twitter to air her grievances. “I put my blood sweat & tears in writing a dope album only for Travis Scott to have Kylie Jenner post a tour pass telling ppl to come see her & Stormi,” the 35-year-old fumed. Apparently the “Sicko Mode” hitmaker was not amused. He and Kylie were supposed to sit behind her, but, according to TMZ, they had their seats moved across the venue.
Everything is coming together for an exciting evening. But the question remains who will come out on top when it comes time to claim the awards. With 12 nominations, Cardi B leads the pool of nominees. The “I Like It” rapper is recognized in some of the night’s biggest categories including Artist of The Year, Best New Artist and Video Of The Year. And she is closely followed by The Carters (as in Beyonce and JAY-Z).
Music’s power couple snagged eight nominations for “APESHIT.” The Louvre-conquering video was enough to land them a Video Of The Year nod as well as several others. Also in the running is Childish Gambino’s “This Is America.” Camila Cabello, Drake, Ari, Bruno Mars and Post Malone claimed some big nods as well.
Bazzi, Chloe x Halle, Hayley Kiyoko, Lil Pump and Lil Uzi Vert are competing against Cardi in the Best New Artist category. Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez is scheduled to take home the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. She is in the running for two additional awards and is sure to bring the heat when she takes the stage for a performance. With any luck the diva will work her way through a medley of her biggest hits.
Who will take home the awards once the show officially airs tonight (August 20)? All will be revealed in time.
