Nicki Minaj Postpones The North American Leg Of Her ‘NICKIHNDRXX TOUR’
It has been quite the week for Nicki Minaj. Since finding out Queen debuted at the number 2 spot on the Billboard 200 (behind Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD), she has dropped a fair amount of tea. On Twitter she blamed everyone from Spotify to the Kardashians for getting in her way. Then on Queen Radio she further went in on Scott. “But what we not gonna do is have this autotune man coming up here, selling fucking sweaters and telling y’all that he sold half a million albums because he didn’t,” she said. It seemed like that may be the end of the bad news for the week. Unfortunately, it was not. Late last night (August 21), the hitmaker took to Twitter to announce she was postponing the North American leg of her NICKIHNDRXX TOUR.
She and Future announced the co-headlining tour back in June. It was originally scheduled to kick off with a set in Baltimore, MD on September 21. With stops across the continent, Nicki and Future closed out the leg in Las Vegas on November 20. Initial plans had them reuniting in February to kick-start the European leg in Munich, Germany on February 21. Now the North American dates will be rescheduled for sometime around May, 2019. Due to scheduling conflicts, Nicki may also relaunch the dates with a new co-headliner and presumably a new tour name. She explained all this in a video.
“Future and I will now start the European leg of our tour first. So those dates will stay exactly the same. And the US leg of the tour will now start in May,” she said. “And so, because of that, with Future’s schedule I may have to take another co-headliner or I may just do it like I did The Pinkprint Tour. And it wouldn’t be like a co-headline, I probably would just have like three or four opening acts.” Offering more of an explanation, she said delays with her album have pushed back production for the show. “I just finished writing and recording literally hours before the album came out. So now I just simply don’t have the time to rehearse and be on the road in time to give you guys the level of a show I need to give.”
Ending with an apology to her fans, she promised to make up for it on the road. “Jaime King and I are working tirelessly to give you guys the best show of my life. And I really apologize, but it’ll be worth it.” In a series of tweets following the video, she promised to still be at Made In America Festival this September. She also alluded to the potential of a South American leg, promised to hold her North American dates in indoor arenas and teased potential meet and greets with fans. Check out her tweets below!
