Iggy Azalea is on an undeniable hot streak lately. After hitting countless roadblocks over the last few years, the Aussie rapper leapt over them all with the release of her Survive The Summer EP. She returned to the Billboard Hot 100 with the project’s lead single, “Kream,” and landed a viral video in the process. Just this week, the “Fancy” hitmaker announced plans to hit the road with fellow rap queens CupcakKe and Saweetie. We’re still waiting for more finite details about the aptly titled Bad Girls Tour. But in the meantime, she just added another win to her growing list.

Today (September 7), I-G-G-Y linked up with Swedish production duo Total Ape on a remix of “In A Haze.” This brings a close to a lengthy saga that has unraveled over the past year. In 2017 Iggy worked on the track after Camila Cabello passed on it for her debut album. Although it became a fan-favorite after it appeared online, it was ultimately cut from Survive The Summer. But it all worked out in the end. Iggy’s version of the song now serves as the lead single and title track for Total Ape’s just-released EP. Appearing alongside collaborations with Nico & Vinz, K Stewart and Karol G, it highlights a side of her musicality we don’t often see.

Over a hazy production, the siren gets vulnerable as she attempts to settle into a relationship. “I been caught up in you and the things you doing. And I can’t lie to ya, I don’t even mind,” she raps on the opening lines. “I been tryna get used to how fast life been moving. And looking for something outside this money to call mine. Tell me, tell me, tell me maybe could you be that?” It is a far cry from the outrageous beats and braggadocios verses on “Hey Iggy.” However, this is equally welcome. Hopefully, the trio can get together to release a music video and potentially plan a few performances. If so, I can see this being their next big hit.
