Anne-Marie is one of the breakout stars of 2018 courtesy of her feature on Marshmello’s chart-conquering “Friends” and a string of solo hits including the nostalgic “2002.” Co-written by Ed Sheeran, the perky bop references classic tracks by Nelly, NSYNC and Britney Spears (among others) and boasts one of the catchiest choruses of the year. As such, it’s not surprising that the song became an instant hit around the globe — cracking the top 10 in markets like the UK, Australia and Ireland.

“2002” has enjoyed a slow, but steady upward ascent in the US, recently reaching number six on the Bubbling Under chart. It is still gaining at pop radio and is only now being promoted with live performances, so it could well turn out to be a slow-burn smash. Speaking of live performances, Anne-Marie brought the song to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Friday (September 14). She rocked a gold sequined suit and beamed during the flawless rendition, which also showed off her powerful pipes. Watch her in action up top.
