Mylène Farmer Returns With Sublime Synth-Pop Anthem, “Sentimentale”
Mylène Farmer is to France, what Madonna is to the rest of the world — the undisputed Queen of Pop. The enduring hitmaker has receipts upon receipts (17 number one singles and counting) and a permanent place in pop culture thanks to various scandals videos and controversies. I mean, she even released her own sex toy! The flawless 57-year-old recently announced her 11th LP, Désobéissance, and has already teased it with two very-good singles — “Rolling Stone” and the LP-assisted, “N’Oublie Pas.”
However, her latest buzz track is even better. “Sentimentale” arrived this week and it’s a glorious rush of ’80s synth-pop that evokes classic hits like “Désenchantée” and “Libertine.” As much as I love it when Mylène moves with the times (the RedOne-produced bops on 2010’s Bleu Noir are impeccable), “Sentimentale” is utterly timeless. If you’re a discerning pop lover with a taste for chic production and subtle melodies, this is the song for you. Check out the sublime single below and pre-order the album here.
