EDIT: Shawn & Zedd’s “Lost In Japan” remix is as epic as you would expect. Stream it below.

Shawn Mendes and Zedd join this week’s New Music Friday (well, Thursday to be exact) lineup with a remix of “Lost In Japan.” The slinky, Justin Timberlake-channeling track was originally released as the second single from the Canadian’s 2018 self-titled LP, but it’s ripe for a rebirth. The song sounded like a hit then and it still sounds like a hit now. Hopefully, Zedd can breathe some new life into the bop without destroying the essence of the original. If anyone can pull it off, it’s him.

“Lost In Japan” is Zedd’s first official remix since tinkering with DJ Snake’s “Let Me Love You” in 2016. Since then, he has been busy with his own music — dropping a string of massive singles including “Stay” and “The Middle.” The German producer is currently promoting “Happy Now,” a song that has excelled on streaming services (100 million Spotify streams and counting) but failed to crossover to pop radio. As for Shawn, well, he has been busily promoting his third LP and preparing for next year’s world tour.
