Robyn Announces New LP, 'Honey'
The wait is over! Robyn announces the release date for 8th LP, 'Honey.'

The pop gods have been unusually kind to us recently. We have been blessed with undeniable bops from living legends including Cher, Mariah Carey and, thankfully, Robyn. She kicked off a new era with the release of her sublime “Missing U” in August. And earlier this month the Swedish pop goddess revealed that she was gearing up to unveil Honey, her first album since 2010’s Body Talk. Since making the announcement, the 39-year-old has opened up about the collection in various interviews, and it sounds incredible. Today (September 26), she is offering up the second taste of the LP as she rolls out the title track as her second single. Fans were first graced with a preview of the song when it appeared on an episode of Lena Dunham’s Girls last year. In the following months, they desperately took to social media to plead with the icon to unveil the final version. And their prayers have finally been answered.

In an interview with the New York Times, Robyn described the single as club music. As such, the structure is different from a typical pop song. “When you’re listening to club music, there’s no reward,” she explained. “The reward isn’t, ‘Oh, here’s the chorus, here’s the lyric that makes sense.’ You have to enjoy what it is. You have to enjoy that there’s no conclusion.” The final result is a magical anthem that gradually undulates across the soundscape. The “Dancing On My Own” siren’s velvety voice grounds the track. “No, you’re not gonna get what you need. But baby, I have what you want. Come get your honey,” she gently coos on the opening lines. “And the waves come in, and they’re golden. But down in the deep, the honey is sweeter,” she adds as the pulsing production picks up energy. With the album version clocking in at almost 5 minutes, the diva trimmed a minute off the run-time for a version tailored to radio. Either way, it seems like a safe bet that she has another hit on her hand.
