A new Little Mix era is nearly upon us! Yesterday (September 30), the UK girl group announced that they partnered with Nicki Minaj on their new single, “Woman Like Me.” Uploading the stripped-back cover to social media, they added that it drops October 12. On the cover the quartet pose in black turtlenecks. They also teased what may be footage from a video shoot and a first taste of the production (if so, it sounds like a bop). Meanwhile, the “Chun-Li” rapper took to social media to voice her support for the project. “Thank you for having me, girls. Love this song,” she wrote on Twitter. Considering the bevy of exclamation points and hearts that she signed off with, it is clear that this was a labor of love.

The track is expected to land on the girls’ forthcoming, fifth studio album. Although we don’t know much about the LP just yet, they have teased it on social media. “It’s coming guys #WaitOnIt,” they captioned a recent post. With any luck “Woman Like Me” will net the girls a breakout hit in America. Although their 2016 effort Glory Days spawned four Top 10 hits in the UK, none of them cracked the Top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100. They also struggled to find a home on US radio with this year’s underrated Cheat Codes collaboration, “Only You.” However, this feels like it could be a serious win. Nicki has already landed two Top 20 hits off Queen, and her involvement is definitely exciting. Hopefully she can help the “Touch” sirens net a first, well-deserved Top 20 of their own.
